Why did I visit 15 Mikimoto Stores Around the World? January 28, 2025 |
Hi, When my interest in pearls started, I thought, "What a better way to learn about pearls than to visit as many Mikimoto stores around the world as possible?" So, I started searching out Mikimoto stores wherever I was. By far, the most fun store to visit was the main Mikimoto store in Ginza, Tokyo. The staff was incredibly friendly and kind. The current manager even gave me a large hardcover book about pearls. It was in Japanese, but the photos are gorgeous! I've stopped by that store in Tokyo two other times. The second time it was closed and the windows were being washed. The third time, the entire building was gone. Literally. It was being totally renovated. ![]() Nagoya Japan Mikimoto Store photo by Kari
Since there are several Mikimoto stores in Japan I tried to visit several of them with my sons, Matt & Sam. It was our first visit to Japan and I recall the locals being fascinated by the height of my two sons, who are each 6' tall. And I was surprised by the small size of the adult Mikimoto necklaces for women.

Did I learn about pearls? Absolutely. Visiting stores and asking tons of questions is a great way to learn about something. It was also a mind opener as to the various levels of actual knowlege that clerks have about their product. That search has been a fun adventure but now I'm seeking out only natural pearls. On this page I write about most of my visits to Mikimoto stores. https://www.karipearls.com/mikimoto-pearl-main-store-ginza-tokyo.html
On a very cold day in January, thirty-one years ago, our family built home was put on thirty-six wheels under a semi and moved ten miles from a two acre lot by the Mississippi River to a forty acre farm complete with barns, pastures and a creek. We had almost finished building our new home when the hill suddenly started sliding underneath it breaking up our house. To be saved, it had to be moved. Through this excruciating ordeal, God abundantly blessed us with moving our home from a two acre lot in a subdivison to a farm. Our daughter Sarah made this lovely video of our experience. God is so good! We love Him and praise Him for His greatness!
