I WAS SIXTEEN YEARS IN THE EARLY SEVENTIES, I COULDN'T WAIT TO GET A JOB, I LIVED NEXT TO THE WEBER BUTTON FACTORY, IN MUSCATINE IOWA.THAT WAS MY VERY FIRST JOB, NEEDLESS TO SAY, I WAS VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED, THE OLD LADIES THAT WORKED THERE ACTED LIKE THEY HAD NEVER SEEN A HISPANIC BEFORE IN THEIR LIVES.VERY PREJUDICE PEOPLE..MY FAMILY MIGRATED TO ILLINOIS EVERY YEAR, WE WERE TOMATO PICKERS FOR MANY YEARS VERY WELL RESPECTED FAMILY AND VERY VERY HARD WORKERS WE WORKED FOR DWIGHT AND PAUL IRWIN. BEST PEOPLE YOU CAN WORK FOR. WHEN I GOT MARRIED AT A VERY YOUNG AGE,WE PURCHASED A HOME ON 6TH ST.AS DISAPPOINTED AS I WAS,I MOVED ON AND BECAME A NURSE.....AND BY THE WAY I NEVER WAS LATE TO MY JOB I NEVER DISRESPECTED ANYONE NOT EVEN MY ELDERS,BUT BECAUSE OF THEM I GOT FIRED...THEY JUST DIDN'T LIKE ME.! AND OF COURSE THEY WERE THE LEADERS THERE. THE COMPANY ONLY ACKNOWLEDGED THEM, SO I HAVE TO TELL YOU THOUGH ISN'T LIFE FUNNY? AFTER I BECAME A NURSE I WORKED TAKING CARE OF OLD PEOPLE FOR THIRTY YEARS. THAT WAS MY EXPERIENCE.
