This button machine, owned by David Metz, was demonstrated on November 11, 2007 at the Muscatine Pearl Button Museum in Muscatine, Iowa.
Clyde Evans helped David restore this machine which was used in the "Button Days" in Muscatine, Iowa, formerly called "The Pearl Button Capital of the World".
The operator for the day was Tom Bankhead.
Enjoy this 13 minute amateur video that I took of a fascinating procedure. A procedure of which the entire city's population was familiar with years ago and one that only a few have observed in this century.
Thanks to David, Clyde and Tom for sharing their time, talent and devotion to our local history.
You'll even get a glimpse of our local "trolley" bus and some residents.
