My wife fixed me some oyster stew as I was chewing I found a round pea shape pearl. It was like finding the needle in the haystack. I would like to know its worth's but it is not for sale. I have been eating oysters all of my life and this is the first time I have found one. I live in NC and now I counting more blessings than before. God Bless!

Congratulations on finding a pearl
by: Kari

Hello Norman,

Lucky you, finding a pearl and since you are a long time oyster eater, you know how rare these lovely things are.

Value depends upon many things, first of all, since yours is pea size, that's a good size and round, that's another plus. The main characteristic to add value to a pearl is, however, luster. How is your pearl's luster? Edible oysters do not always produce lustrous pearls. Color and surface condition also determine pearl value.

Often natural pearls found while eating have the highest value as keepsake items to remind folks of their blessings, such as finding your pearl did for you!

Let me know if you'd like to add a photo. I'm curious now to see what it looks like.
