Is it a pearl ?

Hi Kari,

I recently came upon something that resembled a large pearl in Oman. I enquired with some fishermen whether they had pearls and I was shown this huge pearly colored stone. It had a strange shape so I was hesitant to buy it. I was hoping that you could tell me if the stone in the pictures looks like genuine pearl ?

Hello Mike,

No, I don't think those are pearls. Maybe polished shells? Not sure.

There are no doubt pearls in the sea by Oman, but I don't think those are it.
