I found what appears to be a pearl while snorkeling in Florida. Can you tell me if it's a pearl or a conch pearl and what is the difference in value if any.
Thanks for the photo and for asking if it is a pearl. It is usually impossible to tell if an object is a pearl from only a photograph. You should take it to some jewelers who hopefully could inspect it and give you an honest answer. It almost looks too perfect for a pearl, but that's just an opinion from a photo, not actually inspection.
Please let us know what you find out. I'd be curious to hear the thoughts of local jewelers.
Also, I'm interested in how you actually found it. Was it just laying on the sea floor?

PS. We have a Davenport here in Iowa too...but no snorkeling, although it is on the Mississippi River.
