MISSISSIPPI PEARLS

by Pauline Hodgkinson
(Chorley, Lancashire. England)

Hi Kerry I hope you are keeping well.

I hope that you might think my latest find interesting.

Whilst on a recent buying trip visiting a midland fair I found a most interesting and pretty necklace that consists of a handmade chain though intricately made with silver gilt wire certainly by an amateur hand. There are five short lengths of chain hanging from the main chain and each of these contains a Mississippi pearl (I am getting pretty good at spotting them now) the largest is approx. 10mm the smallest 7mm. Three of the pearls also have facet cut natural amethysts suspended below the pearls. I love this simply made necklace; it conjures up romantic notions that it was made by the person who first found the pearls.
Best Regards
Pauline.

Beautiful natural pearl necklace
by: Kari

Pauline, the necklace is wonderful and handmade makes it even more special. I never get tired of seeing the natural shapes of Mississippi pearls, although some are nice and round which is naturally the desired shape, I love the baroque shapes too and would be thrilled to find one myself someday.

You have a fun job of tracking down antique and vintage jewelry.

Thanks for sharing the amethyst & natural pearl necklace with us!
