Carved shell?
by: Kari

Hi Jayne, Because you can see the ring in person, you have a much higher chance of figuring out the true composition of your ring...so it might be a blister pearl, but to me it looks very similar to a ring my mother owns, expect that her's is made of stone, not mother of pearl. My mother's ring is a carved agate which leaves the reddish color part exposed at the top and the whitish stone exposed near the bottom, similar to what carving a cameo would involve, but not just as intricately carved. Cameos can also be made out of mother of pearl so that leads me to think your ring could be a carved piece of MOP with the darker color on top and white MOP near the bottom.

Blister Pearl
by: Jayne

My research has proven this is a blister pearl. Can anyone add more information? Thank you.
