This is my strategy on how to beat Pearls before Swine...


Take 3 from the row of 5..He will take 3 from the row of 4...Take the remaining pearls from the row of 5...Then he will take 1 from the row of 3...Then you just take the remaining pearls on the row of 3 and you will win.

It is based on the game of Nim where you always want to give your opponent a balanced or Zero sum board using binary numbers.
1) Know your binary numbers which are 1,2,4,8,16,32 and so on but Pearls never goes this high so it does not matter
2) Split each row into its basic binary
Examples
4=4 but 5=4+1 7=4+2+1 15=8+4+2+1 but 16=16
3) There is always something extra in one of the rows which you need to get rid of to zero sum the board. If it is already zero summed, have him go first.
Note: If the board is zero summed, it is impossible to take something from the board and leave it zero summed. Conversely, if it is not zero summed, it is always possible to make it zero summed on your move
