Unusual Abalone Pearl

Curt's Abalone Pearl

Curt's Abalone Pearl

I have been diving for Abalone since 1970 and I have only found small round abalone pearls that are attached to the gonad of the Red Abalone. However, two days ago I found my first true "free floating" pearl in a 9 inch abalone. It is round shaped and nearly flawless, with only a small area on the back side that is rough. My wife is a jeweler of 30 years and she is going to make it into a pendant for me to wear.

Finding a twin for a natural pearl is against all odds! I guess you beat the odds. Glad you could enjoy a photo of a matching pearl and congrats on finding a free pearl! God bless, Kari

Nice pearl
by: Kari

Hi, That's a nice pearl. I can easily see how it would work well for a pendant. You are lucky to have a wife/jeweler who can make it for you to your specifications! We'd love to see a photo of it when it's done. Thanks so much for sharing your new found treasure!
